Edo APC mocks PDP over Alimikhena's defection

The Edo State Section of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the defection last Friday of the Senator representing the Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Francis Alimikhena to the People's Democratic Party (PDP), as a illusion.< /p>

The Edo APC noted that the defection of Alimikhena and another APC leader, Chief Lucky James, to an unnamed PDP faction and the frenzy generated by the exercise in the faction from the PDP who received them showed the level of the ruling party in the state had sunk.

In a press statement endorsed by Mr. Ofure Osehobo, Deputy Publicity Secretary of Edo APC, the opposition state party said it was self-deception the hype of Edo PDP that 64 APC leaders from Edo North Senate District defected during the event held in the official box of Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu.

The statement reads in part: "The hype of an alleged defection of 64 party leaders to an unnamed faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), in the state, is an umbrella of lies emanating from the party in bankrupt power as is.

"The Edo APC calls the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, his deputy, Mr. Philip Shaibu, who are not even members of the PDP, and the praised chairman of the PDP, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, to beware of this kind of self-deception mixed with a bogus and unfounded figure of decamps.

"In conclusion, we liken the Edo PDP and its new members to figurative buffoons, typical of a drowning political party that has lived its life solely on betrayals, lies, fraud and propaganda. We wish them success in their efforts.

It should be recalled that Senator Alimikhena on Friday led his supporters in the six Local Government Areas of the Edo North Senatorial District to defect to the PDP, with an invitation to Governor Godwin Obaseki and Comrade Philip Shaibu to coming to Edo North at a later date to witness a mega rally where a large number of APC members in the area would defect to the PDP.

Alimikhena lost his bid for a third term in the Senate under the APC to former APC national chairman and two-term state governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
