Edo seals over 14 unapproved gas stations and buildings

The Edo State Government has sealed off over 14 gas stations, as well as residential and commercial buildings in Uromi and Ekpoma, the administrative headquarters of Esan North Local Government Areas East and Esan West of the State, on violations of planning laws.

An unnamed bakery along Ogboni Road has also received tickets; a building blocking the right-of-way of Uwenebo Street; Otailo Retail Gas Station; a palm oil factory; a welding factory, all in Uromi.

In Ekpoma, a closed store along the Ekpoma-Auchi highway and a building blocking Old Ojo Street, Uhumudumu, have been marked for demolition.

Speaking to reporters after the enforcement exercise, Enabulele said the action was in line with the government's recent declaration of Edo State as a planning area.< /p>

He revealed that the state government has embarked on designing the Edo Regional Development Master Plan, hence the need for potential developers to seek advice and guidance. obtain ministry building approvals before spending money on unapproved structures.

While maintaining that the execution was carried out after the expiry of the formal notices served on the promoters, Mr. Enabulele called on the persons concerned to approach the Ministry and register their buildings, warning that defaulters would be reprimanded through the law.
