Eid-el-Kabir: Leave Nigerians Alone, Abia Imam Begs Gunmen

The Chief Imam of Umuahia Central Mosque, Mallam Aminu Lawan, has called on the gunmen to stop the ongoing kidnappings in the country and allow Nigerians, especially Abiens, to breathe.

The cleric made the call in his message from Sallah to Umuahia on the occasion of the 2022 Eid-Al-Kabir celebration, and pleaded with God to recall the gunmen who were harassing the state.

He advised people to show love and live in peace because "we have no other country we can call our own".

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Nigeria's Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Abia State Chapter, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu, noted the need for peace to reign through justice.< /p>

"Let justice and understanding prevail for the development and betterment of the human race, the protection of life and property, and the welfare of citizens must be taken seriously.

"It is not easy to witness another Sallah. I am grateful to God for that".

Responding to reporters' questions, Sarkin Hausawa Abia's state, Yaro Danladi, called on all to embrace peace "regardless of tradition, religion or tribe".

He called on the federal government to end banditry and kidnapping "because all who are kidnapped are human beings".

He thanked the state government for the tolerance and support to the Muslim community in the state.

The occasion featured the return to Islam by marriage of a certain Miss Queen Mba, now Hasya Mba and the slaughter of a ram to reflect Ibrahim's obedience to God and sacrifice.< /p>
