Ekiti Assembly declares 7 days of mourning over President's death
The Ekiti State Assembly has declared a 7-day mourning for the late President, Mr. Funminiyi Afuye.
In a statement to Ado Ekiti, the Chair of the House Media Committee, Ms. Yemisi Ayokunle, said the flag in the Assembly Compound will be flown at half-mast during this time.
Ms. Ayokunle, who described the late President as the epitome of courage, excellence and a man very committed to public service, said that Mr. Afuye will be greatly missed.
The president died Wednesday night during a brief illness at Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, at the age of 66, according to the statement.
