"Grey's Anatomy" fans know the show wouldn't be the same without Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey. But according to Variety, we'll be seeing a lot less of Dr. Gray this season due to his role in a new, untitled Hulu show based on real events. While it's great to see Pompeo in a new part, it means she'll be taking a back seat for the ABC series' 19th season, appearing in just eight of the upcoming 19 episodes. That being said, she will still narrate each episode and continue to serve as one of the show's executive producers.

As for her next role, all we know so far is that Hulu has spotlighted eight episodes that center on a Midwestern family who adopts what they believe to be an 8-year-old girl. suffering from a rare form of dwarfism. However, they soon begin to question her identity, throwing their own relationships into turmoil when they discover that she may not be exactly who she claims to be. In addition to acting on the show, Pompeo also serves as an executive producer, working alongside Katie Robbins ("The Affair"), Erin Levy ("Mad Men") and a few other members of his Calamity Jane production company. So while it may mean less screen time for Meredith Gray this season, it's certainly not the end for Ellen Pompeo.
