Emefiele explains why CBN helped Reddington create Duchess Hospital

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has said that Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja, owned by Reddington Hospital Group, which recently successfully operated on a leg of Vice President Osinbajo, is an exemplary example of public-private partnership to provide world-class healthcare facilities in Nigeria to discourage medical tourism by Nigerians.

He made this statement during the meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee held recently in Lagos. While answering questions from the media about the CBN's healthcare intervention funds, the apex bank helmsman used Reddington Hospital and Duchess International Hospital as examples where the CBN has supported healthcare facilities. health professionals in building local capacity for the reversal of overseas medical tourism that has cost the country billions of dollars a year.

Mr. Emefiele took the opportunity to thank the Vice President for choosing to have surgery in Nigeria by this exemplary example and for the confidence he has in our health system.

In reaction to the CBN Governor's statement, the Medical Director of the Reddington Hospital Group, Dr. Olutunde Lalude, reaffirmed with an explanation that the Reddington Group created the Duchess Hospital Ikeja as a different brand to promote access to an affordable world. class healthcare for all Nigerians with its unique location 10 minutes from Lagos airport and less than 90 minutes by plane from Abuja and all state capitals in Nigeria.

A clear demonstration of the affordability of its services is the fact that it costs a mere N5,000 for a patient to register and see a doctor at the new Duchess Hospital. This was obviously made possible thanks to the direct impact of the CBN intervention fund in the establishment of the hospital.

Dr Lalude thanked the CBN Governor and Access Bank Plc for all their support in building Nigeria's local capacity and transforming its health facilities.
