Rescuers rescued three people from a Lexus Jeep that was swept away by heavy flooding in the Oyatoki area of ​​Agege, Lagos State.

Farinloye said the incident involved two vehicles, a Jeep Lexus carrying three people and a Toyota with three occupants.

According to him, the six people were swept away when rainwater overflowed an unfinished canal in the area.

"Residents reportedly warned people in vehicles to refrain from crossing the road, but they were adamant, but crossed and were swept away,

"One of the people in the Toyota refused, got out of the vehicle, the other two drove and they are the only ones currently missing.

"A total of three survivors alive, one jumped to safety, while the other two are missing," he said.

Farinloye said emergency responders on the ground included the Lagos State Fire Department, NEMA, LASEMA, police and other community responders.

"Search and rescue operations are underway looking for the other two people.

"Community members were mobilized as they know the canal terrain and managed to rescue the four people," he added.
