Emporio Armani Men Spring 2024

Giorgio Armani went with the flow for his Emporio Armani men's spring effort, leaving the limelight to a liquid vaporous fabrics cut into wide trousers, loose shirts and long jackets in the form of a bathrobe.

A giant metal ginkgo leaf towered over the runway theater, suggesting influences from the East, where ginkgo is a symbol of Tokyo. There were hints of the haori jacket and martial arts references, including wide, baggy pants with boxing belts, as well as loose robes reminiscent of the djellaba.

"Between the Far East and a hypothetical North Africa", thought the press notes.< /p>

It was a focused, contemplative and transporting show that wowed with its lustrous fabrics, languorous shirts with drooping shoulders and slouchy jackets that often attached to a collarbone and hung open.

There were interludes of technical outerwear, also bias binding, and hoodies in quirky tweeds, always associated with wide garments, flowing trousers that floated over soft, knitted slip-ons. Models walk slowly around the perimeter of a square, as shiny as Japanese lacquer.

But Armani kept returning to his long, flowing black and beige layers of tunics, dust coats and of these pajama-like pants, culminating in black tie versions with satin trim. He sprinkled small crystals on some models' slicked-back hair, suggesting stars in a dark desert sky.

Just when you thought the show was over, a dozen Olympic and Paralympic athletes circles the stage, each hoisting an Italian flag and wearing the official EA7 Emporio Armani kit that they will wear to the Paris games in 2024. An "Armani blue" tracksuit forms the backbone of the kit, which also includes polo shirts, t-shirts, caps and sneakers.

The designer said he was enthusiastic about the challenge of creating "functional yet stylish garments designed for catch the eye and foster a powerful sense of belonging in our athletes."

Team spirit was palpable as Italy icon Armani stood stood among the flags and athletes, soaking up the enthusiastic applause.
