Enugu APC stakeholders demand dismissal of President Agballah

As the 2023 poll approaches, key All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Enugu state have stormed the party's national secretariat with a call for the immediate dismissal of the president of the state section, Ugochukwu Agballah.

The group's spokesperson, Gbazuagu Nweke Gbazuagu, in a petition to the National Work Committee (NWC) led by Sen Abdullahi Adamu, justified the call saying it was aimed at repositioning the party ahead of the poll from 2023.

The group comprising former Senate Speaker Ken Nnamani and Foreign Minister Geofrey Onyeama has urged the Adamu-led NWC to immediately rescue the party in Enugu State from collapse total by removing Agballah from office and replacing him with an interim president who should not be part of the current state executive committee.

The group argued that the party still has a chance to remedy the situation and be competitive in the general election if its demand is met.

The group noted, "The Party is imploding and on the brink of imminent collapse. It is unable, as it stands, to compete in parliamentary elections. Leaders now believe that a radical solution is needed to save the state party from total state collapse and disgrace.

“The objective is to unify the Party through the appointment of an interim president because the current president has become alienated and has lost the confidence of the majority of the state party members and its leaders.

"Very importantly, it should be noted that he was legally expelled by his Udi/Agbudu Ward from the Udi LGA of Enugu State on 19th August 2022 by an overwhelming majority of party members in his A copy of the resolution is attached.

"This petition is drafted for the purpose of informing the National Chairman and the National Working Committee of the APC of the state of affairs of our great party in Enugu State. As elders of the party in the state, we firmly believe it is our duty to bring these anomalies to your attention for urgent corrective action. One stitch in time saves nine!

Stakeholders accused Agballah of systematically dismantling the core of the Party structure by bringing in his supporters in addition to insulting Party leaders, including the few who supported his emergence, putting them completely at risk. the gap in matters affecting the functioning of the Party in the State and functioned as a sole administrator or in fact as a dictator.

They thus alleged that the resulting effect of Agballah's action was the withdrawal from the Party of an increasing number of leaders and important members.

Chime Outgoing Governor of Enugu State, General JOJ Okoloagu NDIC Board Member, Senator Ayogu Eze NPA Board Member and Former APC Candidate Guber Enugu State, Eugene Odo Former Rt. Hon Speaker, Enugu State, Ifeanyi Nwoga Former Attorney General, Enugu State, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani Member South East and Mr. Osita Okechukwu Director General, Voice of Nigeria (VON).
