Epic Games Founder and CEO Tim Sweeney has said his company will "definitely not follow" Minecraft developers in banning non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

As previously reported, Minecraft developers Mojang Studios banned NFT embeds on Wednesday, as they believe the speculative aspect of NFTs and the scarcity and risks of exclusion and scams supposedly associated with NFTs are contrary to the principles of the game.

This decision was considered very controversial in the NFT community, while it was welcomed by the cohort of crypto-skeptical gamers.

Sweeney's company is the creators of the Battle Royal game Fortnite, which is also considered a Metaverse platform. While Epic Games isn't necessarily pro-crypto or NFT, the CEO said the company doesn't seek to impose opinions on the subject on its users:
