EPL: It's just a shame - Liverpool star admits he misses Sadio Mane after latest loss

Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has admitted the club are still struggling to adjust to life without their former Senegal striker Sadio Mane.

He said that after the Reds' shock defeat at Brentford in the Premier League on Monday night.

The England international also regretted that his goal came to nothing in the 3-1 loss.

Liverpool fell to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium with goals from Ibrahima Konate (own goal), Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo.

Oxlade-Chamberlain scored what turned out to be a consolation effort for the visitors minutes into the second half.

Oxlade-Chamberlain believes Liverpool lack the influence of Mane who left for Bayern Munich last summer.

After playing on the left wing against Brentford, he told LFCTV: "I've watched Sadio and Mo [Salah] play in that position for years and one thing they've done remarkably well is provide goals for the team.< /p>

"It's a little different when Darwin [Nunez] plays in the middle... When Bobby [Roberto Firmino] plays that role, he usually goes down a little deeper and fills that half-space.

"That's the thing I've been missing in the last few games, that real goal threat, so it was good to get that chance and take it tonight - it's just a shame it didn't means nothing."< /p>
