EPL: Mourinho refused to sign Virgil van Dijk for Man United – Kamara opens up

Popular British presenter Chris Kamara has revealed that he once advised Jose Mourinho to sign Virgil van Dijk for Manchester United.

And former Sky Sports reporter Kamara says he told ex-Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan boss Mourinho to sign Van Dijk from Southamton during his reign at Manchester United and it looks like the Portuguese boss was interested in a deal.

Kamara says legendary manager Mourinho said Manchester United weren't willing to spend so much money to sign Van Dijk.

"I can exclusively reveal that I told Jose Mourinho to bring Virgil van Dijk to Manchester United," Kamara - who was recently awarded an MBE - said on the Proper Football podcast.

"Jose said, 'this group [Man Utd] won't give me the money for him'. And then Van Dijk went to Liverpool instead."
