EPL: Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Carragher involved in Twitter brawl over Ronaldo comments

Former Premier League stars Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Carragher have been embroiled in a Twitter brawl over comments about Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

Carragher tweeted on Monday, saying the idea that Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag selected his team and left Ronaldo on the bench for the duration of the 6-3 Premier League derby defeat of the Red Devils against Manchester City on Sunday was 'laughable and wrong.'

Ferdinand replied, asking if Carragher was still annoyed. Ronaldo didn't shake his hand recently at Old Trafford on a Sky broadcast.

Ferdinand tweeted: "Carra, are you still upset he didn't shake your hand [sic] at Old Trafford? The hardest thing to do in football is to score goals…”< /p>

However, Carragher seemed to take offense at the comment, lashing out at Ferdinand and accusing him of sucking Ronaldo.

The Liverpool legend then responded to Ferdinand's tweet, calling the Man United legend a 'fan boy' of the Portugal captain.

"No, I'm glad it went viral!" Carragher said in response to Ferdinand's comment about shaking hands with Ronaldo.

"Rio, I know how it works, it's your buddy and you/Evra and the others are on the whatsapp group and he's asking you to come out and defend him. Don't be his fan boy you're Rio Ferdinand for FFS!!'

Similarly, Ferdinand then replied, "What a WhatsApp group?! Forget it man…I want that same energy with Roy Keane when you [sic] next in the ffs studio. Stop getting harassed."
