Bitcoin BTC/USD, the world's most popular cryptocurrency, traded lower, falling below $20,000 this morning.

The second most valuable cryptocurrency, Ethereum ETH/USD, meanwhile, traded sharply lower after successfully transitioning to a proof-of-stake network in an event dubbed “The Merge.”

Chiliz CHZ/USD was the biggest gainer in the previous 24 hours, while Ravencoin RVN/USD was the biggest loser.

As of this writing, the global crypto market cap has fallen to $958.58 billion, registering a 24-hour decline of 3.3%. BTC was trading down around 2.1% to $19,720, while ETH fell around 9.1% to $1,458 on Friday.
