EuroPi reprogrammable module for Eurorack

EuroPi Eurorack module

Raspberry Pi enthusiasts and musicians might be interested in a new EuroPi Eurorack module project posted on the Hackster.io website this week by member Rory Allen. Who created a reprogrammable module for Eurorack using the Raspberry Pi Pico mini PC as a base, allowing users to program their own Eurorack synthesizer module from scratch using MicroPython, and best of all, it's all open- source.

"When I first started using Eurorack I couldn't afford much (and still can't) and thought there had to be an easier way than buying each individual utility, only to not need most of them in any given patch. Around the same time, the Raspberry Pi Pico was released, and after programming a bit in Python in high school and sixth grade, it was much more appealing than trying to build my first module with just any other microcontroller." < /p>

EuroPi Eurorack

"Despite lacking in some areas (no amazing ADC performance), it's very affordable, and very important in 2021 (and sadly still today to some extent), it's actually available I set out to build very rudimentary proof-of-concept modules, using PWM and an RC filter to get an analog output from the Pico, and adding extras like LEDs, knobs, and buttons. what I now call the "EuroPi prototype" and made all the source files available on GitHub."

"Eventually I got a working version of the EuroPi, and again uploaded the design files to GitHub, where it has since been maintained and developed by an incredibly talented group of contributors ."
