Eurovision 2023: the discount and draw for the semi-finals will take place in Liverpool

The "Official Eurovision Keys" will be handed over to Liverpool during a BBC TV show on January 31.

The mayor of Turin, where last year's song contest took place, will travel to Merseyside for a handover ceremony hosted by Rylan and AJ Odudu.

This will also be when participating countries find out -the final they will participate in by drawing lots.

This year's competition will take place the second week of May.

The BBC also announced that young people from a local school in Liverpool, together with members of the Ukrainian community who settled in the city since the beginning of the war, will be involved in the announcement of the allocation.

Italy, France, Spain, Germany and the UK automatically get a place in the final due to how much they pay to enter. The remaining 31 artists will sing first in two semi-finals with 10 countries from each show qualifying.
