Former heavyweight boxer Julius Francis mocks Tyson Fury comment as he discusses viral knockout

Former heavyweight boxer and internet sensation Julius Francis has opened up about his viral knockout video while laughing at comments that Tyson Fury is proud of his right hand. The boxer turned bouncer blew up the internet last month when a video emerged showing him knocking out a troublesome punter during a shift as a security guard at BoxPark Wembley.

Francis - a former opponent of Mike Tyson - was seen flattening a man in a durag who had acted aggressively towards staff members. As the clip spread like wildfire, many well-known names, including Fury, defended Francis for acting in self-defense.

During an appearance on 'The Gypsy King', he commented on the incident saying, "I saw the video, great right hand by the way. That's what happens when you're cheeky, rude, that you mingle with people. What do you expect? If you keep kicking a dog, he'll bite you, right? These guys are doing their job, this guy is probably pissed off or whatever, he's attacking, so he's been chined. That's a life lesson. Never go out and be cheeky with the big men because you're probably going to get lied to."

After the punch, an investigation was launched by the Metropolitan Police, which was eventually dropped while Francis had his SIA license which allows him to work as a security withdrawn. But the former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion said he has received a lot of love despite the stressful situation.

He said, "It's something I never wanted to happen, but it went viral and yeah, it went crazy. Like people again, I know it's been over six about weeks I think since the incident happened and I've had people come to me and say they've seen the video in China, Japan, Morocco, it was on the news obviously all over England.

"I find it fascinating how things like this go viral and how they take off. But one thing I will say is that I appreciate all the love I get from it. People appreciate me and understand the situation for what it was and at the end of the day I couldn't avoid.”

Francis then continued to laugh at comments that Wilder and Fury would be proud of his knockout - before admitting he would be open to a rematch with former heavyweight king Mike Tyson.

“I can't say it was something I wanted to do, but it kind of landed on the button, kicked the guy out, stopped the whole thing. wasn't something I wanted, but I always tell people the last thing a fighter loses, especially a heavyweight fighter, is his punch," he said.

"We might get fatter and we might get older and we lose our fitness and all that, but obviously we know [how to knock people out] because it's kind of just there for us. In some ways, for a second nature.”

On facing Tyson again, he added, "No one has come forward to say he's going to put on a show, but yeah, if it were to come to fruition, I'd be more than willing."
