F1 NEWS: Lewis Hamilton contract in doubt, Max Verstappen reacts to Sergio Perez snob

Max Verstappen has admitted the long break from F1 has come at an ideal time for him to recover from an illness he suffered at the Australian Grand Prix.

The F1 season is on a three-week break after the race in Melbourne, with next weekend not taking place until the end of the month in Azerbaijan.

Verstappen was initially frustrated to have so much free time so early in the season, but admitted he took advantage of it.

"A few weeks ago, I would say I wasn't looking forward to it," he said.

"But then I got very sick and I've been fighting a bit since then, especially in Saudi Arabia. So for me, these weeks are perfect to get back to full fitness."
