Fans of two popular Nollywood actresses, Ada Ameh and Sola Onayiga, mourned their passing after news of their deaths went viral on Monday.

Ameh, who was battling an illness, reportedly collapsed while out on Sunday.

PUNCH Metro realized that she had passed away when she was rushed to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation hospital.

Before the incident, she took to her Instagram page and shared a video of herself eating with her foster family.

Ada, who died at the age of 48, was popular for her role in the family comic series The Johnson.

She was born on May 15, 1974 in Ajegunle, Lagos, and rose to fame after playing the role of Anita in the 1996 blockbuster, Domitila.

She lost her only child in October 2020 and hinted in June that she was battling mental illness.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Bright Edafe was not available for comment at the time of this report.

While fans were still mourning her, a film critic, Husseini Shaibu, announced the death of veteran actress, Onayiga.

He tweeted: "Just learned that the accomplished theater and film actress and Fellow of Theater Arts Auntie Sola Awojobi Onayiga passed away today.

"Auntie Sola is best known for delightfully playing the role of Ireti aka Cooking practics on the now defunct TV sitcom 'Checkmate'! Bon voyage, mum!"

Onayiga was popular for her role as Ireti in the now-defunct family drama, Fuji House of Concussion.

Reacting to news of their deaths, Twitter user, @folakemiajayi_, said: "I don't I didn't expect to wake up to the news that Sola Onayiga (Ireti from Fuji House of Commotion) and Ada Ameh (Ms. Emu Johnson from The Johnsons) had died. Their deaths hit me in the chest because they were 2 actresses who endears popular TV series they have appeared in."

For his part, @trendinginfo9ja said: “Two big losses in one day. Sola Onayiga and Ada Ameh. May God rest your souls in peace. For many years you have both graced our screens and put smiles on our faces, you will always be remembered by us."
