FIFA taps local talent to launch art project around World Cup trophy tour

FIFA is collaborating with eight leading artists to present a new "Spotlight: Your Dreams" campaign ahead of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The eight artists from around the world will take part in the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour to inspire people to create works of art featuring the trophy.

Fans can draw, paint or art express their dreams and submit their creations on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #FIFADreamContest.

The top 16 selected by the judges compete in a bracketed competition inspired by the FIFA World Cup. The winner of the competition will win a trip to the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ in Qatar, with other prizes up for grabs throughout.

Noah Beck, who works with local artists to encourage engagement, said: "I'm thrilled to be joined by these talented artists to compete in the world's largest fan art competition of its kind. Each World Cup FIFA World™ is an opportunity for people to dream and then achieve their dreams, so we would like as many people as possible to get involved in the #FIFADreamContest. Qatar 2022™ the moment when dreams come true and shine a light on what the beautiful game is all about.” The local artists involved in the project are:

Lu Sedova (Argentina) – a rising artist and social explorer who features football, and in particular references to Diego Maradona, in her canvas art. Matt Adnate (Australia) – a spray paint and acrylic artist heavily influenced by Indigenous Australian communities with renowned murals across Australia. Victor Mosquera (Canada) – a prominent digital illustrator and psychedelic style football fan who has worked with musicians and filmmakers. Josephine Henning (Germany) – a former international soccer player who remains involved in the sport as an expert. His acrylic and canvas art is a perfect example of the intersection between football and art. Farid Rueda (Mexico) – a renowned muralist with a loyal global following, whose graffiti art features strong references to Mexican culture. Ashley Dreyfus (USA) - a vibrant and colorful multimedia artist and muralist based in Los Angeles with the aim of evoking joy and curiosity with art. Gabe Gault (USA) – a Southern California artist who focuses on Modern Impressionist paintings dedicated to showcasing individuals working to make a positive difference. Jaber Henzab (Qatar) – an up-and-coming digital artist who brings interesting art forms to life and shines a light on iconic FIFA World Cup stadiums.
