A statement from the State Police Command, released Sunday, confirmed the incident, noting that the victims had been dropped off at the morgue for an autopsy to find out the cause of their death.

The statement signed by the Command's spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, listed the names of the victims as "Mrs. Chinyere Odoh, her two children: seven-year-old Udochukwu Odoh 'f' and Chukwuemeka Odoh 'm' aged seven. four years old, as well as his two sisters: Martina Ezeme and Ngozi Ezeme. »

He said state police commissioner Ahmed Ammani called the incident unfortunate and ordered the state's Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a full investigation to elucidate the circumstances. surrounding sudden and unnatural death.

According to the statement, the commissioner expressed his condolences to the family members and friends of the deceased.

Meanwhile, the command said a preliminary investigation revealed that the said deceased went to bed the previous night and were not seen in the morning. “However, their lifeless bodies were found in two separate rooms in which they were sleeping, when officers from the Udenu Police Division of the Command, who promptly responded to a distress call over the incident, forced the bedroom doors.

“They were immediately taken to hospital and confirmed dead by the medics on duty, and their bodies deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy. Further developments will be communicated,” the statement read.
