As many as five outgoing members of the National Youth Service Corps will renew their year of service, while three others will have their service extended for misconduct in Sokoto State.

State NYSC Coordinator Alhaji Muhammad Nakamba revealed this Thursday during the disappearance of 2 Corps B members of 2021 in Sokoto.

Nakamba said the affected corps members were disciplined for various offenses ranging from flight, absenteeism and others, during their year of service.

He explained that the regime has zero tolerance for absenteeism and will not hesitate to punish any straying staff member.

He noted that of the 537 corps members who passed out, two of them were awarded the prestigious Sultan Sa'ad Abubakar Awards for their outstanding contribution to improving the standard of living of their communities. home.

The coordinator thanked Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for his unparalleled love and support of the program in the state over the years, especially his commitment to maintaining the payment of state allowances to corps members.

"I also took this opportunity to thank His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto for his unwavering support for the program and his show of love for the youth and NYSC in particular," Nakamba added.

He maintained that, in line with the program's determination to contribute to the accelerated development of the state in accordance with the policy and programs of the administration, the program posted a high percentage of the corps' medical personnel in the areas rural areas of the state, saying that the gesture will help fill the shortage of personnel in this sector.

He noted that the corps' medical personnel through their various health outreach activities have helped thousands of citizens in rural communities across the state.

Nakamba also revealed that in the determination to ensure the educational development of the state, the largest percentage of Corps members are assigned to schools to teach.

He noted that during the period, Unity Bank had assisted three Corps members who had distinguished themselves in skills and entrepreneurship development.

He further said that the Bank of Industry and other institutions have also supported corps members who have developed business plans but lack funds to finance them.

He urged outgoing members of the corps to be good ambassadors for the program and to maximize the acquisition of skills and the entrepreneurial spirit learned during the year of service.
