Forget Haaland. Foden and Vinicius are hotter prospects, finds new player ranking tool

August 30 - Erling Haaland may be making headlines in the Premier League, but his team-mate Phil Foden is one of six players born in the same year (2000) who are ranked as top prospects. Vinícius Júnior leads the group of 2000 years.

The CIES Football Observatory ranking uses a new metric that CIES has designed and which they call Impact Score. They use the method to analyze the top 250 prospects born in 2000 or later in 59 world championships.

Vinícius Júnior (2000, IS of 100), Bukayo Saka (2001, IS 92), Joško Gvardiol (2002, IS 94), Jude Bellingham (2003, IS 91) and Pablo Gavi (2004 or less, IS 93) at the top of the ranking by year of birth.

"The Impact Score is calculated from the average level of matches played by players using the "experience capital" method, their number of official game minutes played in the last 365 days and their performance on the field compared to their teammates and their opponents, as well as with regard to players with the same technical profile according to the role-based approach also freshly developed by the research team of the Observatoire du CIES football,” said the compilers of the ranking.
