Cointelegraph had the opportunity to chat with Jason Fung, former head of games at TikTok, about his new company Meta0, why he decided to make the jump to Web3 and what he thinks the future holds for him.

The former game manager expressed a high level of excitement, proclaiming it was day one for young tech startup Metaverse. Fung explained that he plans to bring his wealth of knowledge and experience in gaming and software development to make a bigger version of what the metaverse could be.

"Many web2 companies are trying to figure out how the metaverse fits into their business models. What does it mean to shift ownership of assets to users and be more decentralized? Is it worth the risk associated with giving up control and ownership? There are legal and other considerations to consider before going in that direction."

Fung said Meta0 aims to encourage others in the Web2 space to start moving to Web3 and join the effort to build the Metaverse while solving real-world problems.

His career has focused on tournament platforms and esports, although he has worked on mini-games and created new experiences for players at TikTok. He explained that his deep interest in games and blockchain helped him identify the issues facing the development of Metaverse in its current iteration.

He spoke about interoperability as one of the major issues facing the metaverse, namely between implementations, protocols, technologies and companies involved in the development of this space.
