Formula E has its version of 'Drive to Survive' and it's a great primer for the new season

Drive to Survivehas done wonders for Formula 1. Netflix's hit series drew fans to the sport with its (sometimes fabricated) drama and its beautiful cinematography. What you probably don't know is that Formula E has its version, but with shorter episodes and massively condensed storylines. Even still, Formula E Unplugged is a great primer for the new season, whether you're watching the EV racing series for the first time or you're a seasoned fan.

The second season of Unplugged, which chronicles Formula E Season 8 of 2022,was released by select broadcasters just before Christmas and all six episodes made the rounds. tour several times here in already in the United States (CBS Sports Network). It's a big change from the 15 episodes of the first season which weren't widely released and are now shown on the Formula E YouTube channel. The other difference with this new season is that the episodes are 30 minutes long. with commercials, slightly longer than the previous episode's 10–15 minute entries. But even with a little extra time, many of the stories are condensed to the point that they're sometimes hard to follow.

The first episode covers Mercedes-EQ in its final season (the team was bought by McLaren). The eventual winner of the series, Stoffel Vandorne, has to deal with the fact that his teammate is the defending champion. The second episode offers a biographical look at Jaguar TCS' Mitch Evans, including interviews with his family, his disappointing end to season 7, and the title push into season 8 that continues to the very end. p>

In the third episode, Unplugged covers two teams: TAG Heuer Porsche and ROKiT Venturi Racing. While one of them finished 1-2 early in Season 8, the other faced drama on their home run. It's the first taste of anything approaching Drive to Surive drama. The fourth episode is all about rookies as Dan Ticktum tries to put his past behind him, Antonio Giovinazzi looks to leave F1 and American Oliver Askew tries his hand at a World Series with the help of his British teammate Jake Dennis.
