Gary Holpin, from the town of Honiton, was able to determine the best times and places in his home county to capture sunrises and sunsets perfect, cloud formations, clear skies, mists, rainbows and the Milky Way.

The images are accompanied by words from the award-winning travel writer Simon Heptinstall, who revealed, for example: This image was based on weeks of research into the best dates and times to view the Milky Way over Devon. He explained further: “Gary then determined which location would be best to photograph it – and even in which direction. The weather should be clear but without disturbing moonlight....
