Grandfather, 75, arrested for allegedly raping grandniece, 6, in Jigawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, has arrested a 75-year-old man, Musa Gambo, who allegedly raped his six-year-old great-grandniece in Jigawa State.

Jigawa State NSCDC Command Spokesperson, Chief Corps Superintendent (CSC) Adamu Shehu confirmed the arrest in a statement to the DAILY POST.

He said the suspect was arrested after a report from a social worker who received an emergency call from a friend of the victim's family who claimed to have caught the suspect in the act while she was visiting the girl's grandmother.

Adamu said the suspect was arrested at Gandun Sarki Quarters, Malam Madori LGA by NSCDC staff at 1pm on Wednesday on charges of allegedly raping a six-year-old girl who is his great-grandmother. great-niece.

According to eyewitness Malama Maimuna, she grabbed the old man with the girl in her lap as he sexually abused her in her bedroom.

"I immediately informed the grandmother of the girl who rushed into the room and also saw the same thing," she said.

CSC Adamu said the victim also confirmed that she was individually abused by the suspect who usually gave her candy and also threatened her not to tell anyone.

A medical report obtained from the Sexual Assault and Referral Center (SARC) at Dutse General Hospital showed evidence of sexual abuse when her hymen was broken. The suspect also confessed to the crime and attributed it to the work of the devil. According to Adamu, he will be brought to justice at the end of the investigation.
