HTC Vive XR Elite VR Headset teardown by iFixit
Gamers interested in learning more about the technology and build of the new HTC Vive XR Elite VR headset might be interested in a quick new four-minute video posted by the team at iFixit providing a teardown of the HTC Vive XR Elite. Offering more information on how to remove the battery, outer casing as well as the screen, motherboard and camera.
The HTC Vive XR Elite is now available to buy for $1,099 in the US or $1,299 and UK and features 4 wide-field-of-view tracking cameras, a combined resolution of 3840 x 1920 resolution, a high-resolution RGB color camera, depth sensor, and the ability to provide users with a "vivid expanded reality with precision user-environment interaction," says HTC.
"When the first impractical VR headsets started hitting the shelves way back in 2016, I confess I really didn't get it. But tearing down the Vive XR Elite felt like what VR hardware should always have been. Vive also claims to have thought about repairability. The removable battery alone is enough to make a repairman cry, does the rest of this headset hold up?"
