"I haven't raped anyone" - Nollywood actor, Armstrong Moses

Nollywood actor Armstrong Moses has opened up about his alleged rape of a minor.

This is the first time the actor has commented on the issue since June, when he was first arrested.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Armstrong on Wednesday, the Akwa-Ibom-based actor, noted that he was not a rapist.

He wrote, "Nothing gets past God. If you believe, you will receive. Nothing gets past God. I have not violated anyone. I do not violate. I have never violated, And I will never violate. "

He was prosecuted for allegedly raping a minor - a teenage girl he adopted who lives with his (Mr. Armstrong's) family.

The actor was first arraigned in a magistrate's court in Uyo on June 17, but the case was dropped after the magistrate, Samuel Ukoima, ruled that the case had no not been correctly classified.

Mr. Armstrong was also charged with rape, intimidation, conspiracy, and supplying drugs or instruments to have an abortion.

He pleaded not guilty to all four counts.

The actor was released on N5 million bail by Judge Ntong Ntong.

After securing his bail conditions, the actor returned home to a warm welcome on Tuesday evening.

Through his Facebook post, he returned home for a party hosted by his children, friends and colleagues in the Nigerian film industry.

“Coming back to meet a rousing welcome party, hosted on behalf of my humble self… by my beautiful children, my guardian Angel Akeem Oguntoye, that same comedian Sir James Essien, a perfect brother, best son Nifty Bass and my wonderful son Ezekiel Ezekiel, my perfect friend and brother Henry Huk and a host of other friends, colleagues, sons and daughters of mine,” he wrote.

He also said he never raped anyone, noting that he was never involved in the act.

"I'm back stronger and better. I'm glad I went to jail; God came with me. The experience was awesome. You'll hear it soon. Blessings to you all, angels, who have believed in me,” he added.

He also promised to share details of his arrest and prison work soon.

The Nollywood actor isn't the only actor to be accused of statutory rape in recent times.

Baba Ijesha's case has been more publicized, while Mr. Armstrong's is shrouded in secrecy, presumably to protect the image of the minor he was allegedly involved with.

In June, Mr. Armstrong, former aide to Akwa Ibom State Governor Emmanuel Udom, was charged with having carnal relations with a minor.

His attorney, Emmanuel Pantaleon, brought to the court's attention his bail application filed on behalf of his client on July 25, and sought permission from the court to proceed with its review.
