I know nothing about the trial of the YPP candidate – Gov Emmanuel

Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel has refuted allegations linking him to the legal troubles of Young Progressive Party gubernatorial candidate Senator Bassey Akpan.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is currently pursuing Albert for alleged corruption, and a judgment is expected in a few days.

Governor Emmanuel, while reacting to speculation that he was behind Albert's troubles, said he knew nothing about the corruption case because the anti-craft agency was not doing than his homework.

Speaking on Tuesday at the launch of two new Airbus-A320-200s to bolster the fleet of state-owned airline Ibom Air at Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, Governor Emmanuel urged blackmailers to do face their cases and get by, adding that he came for governance and would be focused on bringing dividends and benefits to his people.

He revealed that he had recently received calls from friends and associates insinuating that he was trying to imprison a gubernatorial candidate.

"I read on the internet; some candidates from some parties say the governor wants to jail them.

"These are total lies because I am not that kind of governor. I don't even know the facts of the deals they have with the EFCC.

"This is stuff that started before I even became governor. Let people stop blackmailing and face their lives. People are out to blackmail people.

"I walked into Abuja, everyone was calling me saying 'this candidate says you want to jail him.'

“This case happened before I even became governor. I don't know the facts of the case, I'm not a judge, I don't know anything. go and settle their affairs and just leave the blackmail and propaganda.

"We came here to govern, we have an account, we are servants of God, stop this propaganda. That's enough.
