'I was blown away by the beauty': readers' favorite museums and galleries in Europe

Cubists in a Cube, Málaga, Spain

On a recent trip to Málaga, I was blown away by the Center Pompidou (€9) near the beautiful redeveloped pier. It is worth visiting just to experience the architectural beauty of the center itself and we spent some time admiring the beautiful colored glass cube from inside and outside. Inside are famous works by various big names, including Pablo Picasso. The semi-permanent collection celebrates a century of Spanish art and for me the works of Joan Miró were a highlight. When I was there, the center also hosted an exhibition of contemporary Spanish artists.Philippa Hughes

A quick train ride from Copenhagen, offering views over the Nivå Bugt to Sweden, takes you to the gallery. Louisiana is part of its landscape, repeatedly framing it through its huge windows. I like the solitary figure of Giacometti which left me with a lasting impression of solitude like a state of grace and power. The Louisiana is the perfect combination of building design, art, and setting. Current exhibits include Andy Warhol, Alex Da Corte and Cindy Sherman.Bex Shaw
