I was not involved in the Ekiti Assembly crisis - Governor Oyebanji

Despite clear signs of interference from the ruling All Progressives Congress, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji said he was not involved in the crisis that culminated in the impeachment of Gboyega Aribisogan as Speaker of the House on Monday.

Officials from Mr. Oyebanji's government had also previously claimed that it was an internal affair of the ruling party.

However, with the governor as the leader of the party in the state, observers believe he could not have been indifferent to the crisis.

One of the reasons cited for Mr. Aribisogan's impeachment and suspension alongside six other members of the House was that he sabotaged the 2022 Supplementary Appropriations Bill submitted to the House by the Governor .

While receiving newly elected President Olubunmi Adelugba in his office on Tuesday, Mr. Oyebanji said he was happy that party leaders had quickly ensured the resolution of the crisis within the house.
