Ibom Air acquires two Airbuses

The management of Ibom Airlines Limited has welcomed two Airbus A320-200s in addition to its fleet, to meet the demands of the festive period.

The aircraft, which arrived over the weekend, was purchased from GetJet Airlines UAB (trading as GETJET), a European aircraft leasing company, under a leasing agreement with one year crew.

This was contained in a statement from the airline's General Manager, Marketing and Communications, Aniekan Essienette.

The airline's chief operating officer, George Uriesi, said the wet lease agreement is a stopgap measure undertaken to meet current demands and accommodate growth, adding that deliveries from ten new Ibom Air A220-300s are expected to debut in the second half of 2023.

According to the press release, deliveries of ten new Airbus A220-300s have been confirmed in November 2021 at the Dubai Airshow.

The statement read: "With this new capability on board, we are delighted to inform our passengers that we have increased our offerings, providing more frequencies for their convenience.

“The Uyo-Lagos and Uyo-Abuja route now has three frequencies every day of the week, while our passengers between Lagos and Abuja will have the choice of seven frequencies in both directions, every day of the week. "

The statement further indicates that the new flight schedules will start from November 23, in order to meet the demand of the holiday season.
