Ifeanyi Adeleke: Cleaning women still in custody – Police

Davido's household staff remain in custody following the death of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.

Lagos State Police Spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin told PREMIUM TIMES on Thursday that an investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances surrounding the toddler's death.

Initial reports say the three-year-old drowned in his father's swimming pool at Banana Island, Lagos and was underwater for an indefinite period before being spotted.

Following the tragic incident on Tuesday, days after his third birthday, police arrested eight of the singer's household workers for questioning, including the late Ifeanyi's nanny and cook.

Police also said they were reviewing CCTV footage of the late Ifeanyi the night he died.

Detention

Police said the two inmates were helping to shed light on the toddler's death.

Mr. Hundeyin declined to name the police division where the household staff are being held for their safety. He said people might besiege the division and draw unnecessary attention.

He added that the six housekeepers who had been released had been "smuggled out" of the division so as not to arouse suspicion.

While the deceased parents have remained silent, a US-based pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, said he spoke with Davido twice after the incident.
