IKEA's latest Sonos Symfonisk speaker is also a $260 floor lamp

IKEA today announced its latest Sonos collaboration, a Symfonisk speaker that doubles as a floor lamp. The lamp/speaker combo will be launched in January in IKEA stores and online.

The floor lamp's $260 price tag makes it the most expensive speaker in the Symfonisk lineup. Current models range from $120 for a bookshelf speaker (with less than stellar sound) to $250 for musical wall art. And your floor lamp investment could skyrocket even more if you want something other than the included bamboo shade, as alternative shades cost $39-$49.

While Symfonisk speakers are cheaper than Sonos-branded devices, models from the IKEA collaboration don't have a built-in AI assistant, so you'll need an Alexa, Google Assistant or HomePod product separate to control them with your voice. But they still support other core Sonos features, such as a full list of music services, TruePlay tuning (iOS only), and speaker pairing.

Sonos and IKEA launched the Symfonisk range in 2019, fusing IKEA's distinctive home styling with the audio intelligence of Sonos. Companies define this combination as helping customers save space on tables or bedside tables (or, in this case, the floor) in apartments or small homes.
