Insecurity: Amotekun seizes 80 motorcycles in Ondo

As many as 80 motorbikes were seized by officers from the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps.

The motorcycles were seized for violating rules prohibiting the use of okada statewide from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The state government decreed last month that a ban on riding motorcycles outside of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and nightclub activities after midnight would be enforced.

According to Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, the directive was intended to purge the state of individuals and organizations with criminal tendencies.

Amotekun's commander confirmed the arrest and said his men had been placed in a good position to arrest the offenders.

According to him, only law enforcement officers or those who provide important services are allowed to move during this period because they are required to have valid identity cards before riding motorcycles.< /p>

This, he claimed, was because Okada runners were blamed for the majority of criminal activity in the state.

Adeleye said the government agency will strictly enforce the restriction.

“No movement from Okada again, this way anyone seen with Okada at night will be considered a criminal and will be treated as such,” he said.
