Time to make history - Roberto Mancini on his new coaching job

Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has said he wants to make history after being named the new coach of the Saudi Arabia national team.

Mancini on Sunday signed a four-year contract worth around 30 million euros per season.

This comes less than a few weeks after he resigned as manager of the Italian national team.

Reacting to his new appointment, Mancini said in a video posted on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter: "I made history in Europe, now is the time to make history with Saudi Arabia."

The Italian added on his Twitter account: “I thank President Yasser Al Misehal.

“I am delighted to have accepted this new project, which is based on sharing the strategic vision of growth in the football sector and in particular in the world of young people, which has always been close to my heart.

"This mission is a recognition of the value attributed to Italian football and, thanks to this experience, I will be proud to bring our Italian spirit to the world."
