JAMB, others decide 2022 admission thresholds Thursday

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said tertiary institutions in Nigeria are unable to make 2021 admissions on schedule due to constraints imposed by the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19.

So the board has indicated that it will meet with institutions and other agencies to determine the 2022 admissions deadline, among others, on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

These were disclosed in the council's weekly newsletter, which was made available to The PUNCH in Abuja on Monday.

The bulletin read: "The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has set Thursday, July 21, 2022 for the 2022 Policy Meeting and Third (2020) NATAP-M Awards.

"Minister of Education Adamu Adamu will chair the policy meeting and be the main host of the NATAP-M award ceremony.

"The two events, to be held on the same day and at the same location, will bring together heads of higher education institutions, heads of education sector regulatory agencies and other key stakeholders such as Chairpersons of the Education Committee of the Lower and Upper Houses of the National Assembly."

According to council leadership, the policy meeting, which is to kick off the 2022 admissions process for higher education institutions nationwide, will be held before the National Tertiary Admissions' Performance-Merit Awards .

The board added: "The policy meeting will discuss critical issues arising from the presentation to be given by the Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, on the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Entrance direct Applications, in addition to setting the tone for the 2022/2023 admissions exercise.

"The policy meeting is expected to set policy guidelines for higher education institutions in the country, set admission guidelines, and present application statistics, applicant performance, as well as evaluate the 2021 admissions exercise. The meeting, among other things, will take a position on the minimum acceptable admissions standards to be applied in all admissions to be undertaken by all higher education institutions.”
