Metallica is in town -- performing in the City of Angels -- and Hollywood's biggest stars have made sure they're front and center to catch all the action...including a rowdy Jason Momoa .
The legendary rock band stopped by Los Angeles on Friday night for one of two shows they're playing here at SoFi Stadium -- with Pantera and Mammoth WVH opening -- and it looks like JM wanted to be among the people as he hit his head and jumped for his life.

Look...there's footage floating around showing Jason in a mosh pit while Pantera was playing, and the dude was struggling with all the normie fans who landed good tickets.
As you can imagine, it was a pretty surreal scene -- but the guy is super down to earth, and he was definitely kissing the metalhead Angelenos...maybe even a little hustled! He's a big guy, so he can defend himself.
