Julian Sands: Remains found in the region of California where the British actor disappeared

Hikers in the United States found human remains near the area where the British actor Julian Sands is missing.
Identification is expected to be completed next week, the southern San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said Saturday from California.
Sands, 65, disappeared Jan. 13 while hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains north of Los Angeles.
< p class="ssrcss-1q0x1qg -Paragraph eq5iqo00">He is best known for his roles in the Oscar-winning film A Room With A View, and the television series 24 and Smallville.
His other credits included 2011's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, in which he appeared opposite Daniel Craig.
Sands, born in Otley, West Yorkshire, went missing in the Baldy Bowl in bad weather.
"Civilian hikers contacted Fontana Sheriff's Station after discovering human remains in the Mount Baldy Wilderness," the sheriff's department said.
The statement gave no further details.
Sands' family released a statement earlier this week expressing their gratitude "to the search teams and coordinators who worked tirelessly to locate Julian".
