JUST IN: Gunmen kidnap Imo LGA boss and burn down his house
In the early hours of Friday, gunmen abducted the Sole Administrator of Ideato North Local Government Area in Imo State, Chris Ohizu, and two others.
This was after his country house in Imoko community in Arondizuogu was razed by his attackers.
A source told our correspondent that the council boss was shot dead before being taken away with two other people by their attackers.
The source said: "The Sole Administrator of Ideato North was abducted last night along with two other people after burning down his house in Imoko community in Arondizuogu. They shot him in the leg before taking him away. He is a man who recently returned from a hospital. I am devastated now."
Another source who confirmed the development denounced the wave of insecurity plaguing the region.
He said, "Ideato North SOLAD's house was burnt down and he was abducted with a gunshot wound to his leg as I heard.
“I report from last year and early this year so far, no police presence anywhere in Arondizuogu and no arrests. We are now at the mercy of God.”
This came less than a week after the country house of United Political Parties Coalition spokesperson Ugochinyere Imo was attacked in Akokwa community in Ideato North LGA , leaving three dead and approximately 33 vehicles flattened.
In addition, a man who was about to get married was killed last week along with his brother in Arondizuogu in the Ideato North LGA.
When contacted, state police spokesman Henry Okoye said he would check and get back to our correspondent, but had not done so at the time. of the filing of this report.
