Juventus beat 'all my fault', says Di Maria after red card

Angel Di Maria accepted responsibility for Juventus' 1-0 loss to Monza after being sent off in the first half on Sunday.

The Argentina international saw red five minutes before half-time for an elbow to the chest of Armando Izzo as the two scrambled for possession in midfield.

The Bianconeri 10 were condemned to defeat by a 74th-minute goal from Monza substitute Christian Gytkjaer to mount the pressure on head coach Massimiliano Allegri.

However, the coach was not to blame, according to Di Maria, who said the result was "entirely my fault".

In an Instagram post, the former Paris Saint-Germain winger said: "I want to apologize to everyone for this inappropriate reaction I had on the pitch.

"Leaving the team with one less at such a difficult time cost us the game.

"The defeat is entirely my fault. I'm sorry. I'm a professional but also a human being who makes mistakes and knows how to admit them."
