Kannywood members join Tinubu campaign team

The CEO of APC's Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Governor Simon Lalong, has approved the inclusion of Kannywood members on the council.

Mr. Lalong, who is also Plateau's governor, announced the approval in a statement issued by his spokesman, Makut Macham, in Jos on Tuesday.

He said their inclusion was part of efforts to deepen the participation of creative artists from the North Zone in the campaigns.

Kannywood is another name for the Hausa film industry.

The APC PCC was formed in September, but its membership was reviewed the following month to accommodate more interest.

The chief executive said the approval was the result of APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu's recent visit to Kano, where he met with members of the group.

He said Mr Tinubu had promised to ensure that Kannywood members had the opportunity to be part of campaigns to showcase their talents, while helping the party win the next general election. READ ALSO: 2023: Tinubu will not be able to attend any presidential debates – Keyamo

Mr. Lalong tasked the group with mobilizing and enlightening their many supporters on Tinubu's "Renewed Hope" message and manifesto to bolster his massive vote in the upcoming elections.

According to the statement, the Kannywood Group has Abdul-Mahmud Amart as director, Ismail Afakallah as deputy director and Sani Mu'azu as secretary, with other executives heading different divisions.
