Ondo Monarch Kidnappers Demand N100 Million Ransom

The kidnappers of the Oloso of Oso-Ajowa Akoko in Ondo State, Clement Jimoh, demanded 100 million naira as a ransom for his release.

They made the request after calling his family on Friday, sources close to the family said.

“They contacted the family, demanding 100 million naira,” a family source told Akure reporters on Saturday.

The traditional chief was abducted from his palace on Thursday amid sporadic gunfire from gunmen.

They allegedly surrounded his house and fired sporadically before breaking down the main door to gain access.

The attackers allegedly knocked on the door first, urging the occupants to open the door. Their order not having been followed, they opened fire on the door and forced it.

Local vigilante groups continued to comb the forests of the town and neighboring communities in an effort to rescue the traditional leader.

Police Public Relations Officer, Ondo State Command Funmilayo Odunlami said police officers were deployed to the area to ensure his rescue.

She said it was inappropriate to publicize these efforts because the kidnappers might read such information in the media.
