Kogi: One expatriate killed, two missing in Ajaokuta attack - Police

Kogi Police Command said two Indian expatriates were missing after Friday night's attack on a convoy of senior executives from West Africa Ceramics Company Ajaokuta, Kogi.

Kogi Police Commissioner Edward Egbuka made the revelation on Saturday in a statement released by Command image maker William Ovye-Aya in Lokoja.

"We have just discovered that two expats from the West Africa Ceramics Company Ajaokuta were abducted by thugs who launched an attack on their convoy along the Lokoja-Ajaokuta road.

"Our findings also showed that only one expatriate was killed along with the two police inspectors and the two ceramic company drivers.

"While we strongly condemn the despicable act of the attackers, we are resolved to hunt them down (the thugs) and rescue the expatriates unharmed.

"Police also want to refute the insinuation that the thugs took AK-47 weapons belonging to our officers during the attack," he said.

Mr. Egbuka called on the public to report any suspicious figures or movements to security agencies for action.

He said the bodies of the five victims were deposited in the mortuary of the ASCOL medical center at the Ajaokuta steel complex. (NAN)
