Kogi Police confirm robbery attacks on three banks in Ankpa

Kogi State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the robbery of three commercial banks in Ankpa Town, Ankpa Local Government Area of ​​Kogi State.

Meanwhile, State Police PRO SP William Ayah in a press release on Wednesday confirmed the incident.

According to him, the armed robbers invaded three banks namely UBA, First bank and Zenith bank Ankpa simultaneously.

"Police Commissioner, Kogi State Police Command CP Edward Egbuka immediately led a team of tactical officers to the scene for on-site assessment and also ordered the deployment of additional operational means composed of police officers Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Quick Response Unit, State Intelligence Bureau in synergy with other security agencies to restore normality in the region.

"Police personnel on duty at the station and on the banks quickly recovered from the sudden attack and courageously repelled the attackers who were forced to flee: some into nearby bushes, others with their vehicles. The thugs abandoned three vehicles used for the operation in their haste to flee, some of them with gunshot wounds.

"CP uses this medium to call on residents of Ankpa and its neighboring communities to be on the lookout and report anyone seen with gunshot wounds to the nearest police or other security force.

"CP assures that the Command is committed to working in synergy with other security agencies as well as patriotic stakeholders in the ongoing assault on crime and criminality to make the state a safe and secure place for one and all," he said. .

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police further instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigations Department (SCID) to initiate investigations to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the act, track down the thugs in order to apprehend and get them to book.

He also urges members of the public to go about their lawful business while continuing to cooperate with police and other security agencies with credible and timely information about the activities of criminal elements in their vicinity.
