Lagos 2023: Sanwo-Olu in “significant lead” ahead of PDP and Labor Party candidates – Poll

A statewide poll has shown that the incumbent Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Party (APC), is more likely to win the election of the 2023 governor in the state.

The poll, commissioned by the ANAP Foundation and conducted by NOI Polls in October, sampled registered voters in the state.

It revealed a three-horse race between Mr Sanwo-Olu, Olajide 'Jandor' Adediran of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labor Party (LP).

The poll found a significant lead by Mr. Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Mr. Adediran and Mr. Rhodes-Vivour at bay.

"The results showed a significant lead for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu with 30% of voters offering to vote for him if the gubernatorial election was to take place today; 8% offering to vote for Azeez Olajide Adediran (PDP) who fell to second place and Gbadebo Patrick Rhodes-Vivour (LP) was a distant third with 4% of voters offering to vote for him,” the statement read.

"Governor Sanwo-Olu's 22% lead at this early stage is very significant, as opposition voters are fragmented and split between 2 main challengers in the 30:8:4 ratio.

“Undecided voters and those who prefer not to reveal their preferred candidate total 30% and 26% respectively. The gender breakdown of undecided voters shows that 35% of women are undecided compared to 27% of male voters.”

The result, however, shows that around 30% of respondents were undecided while 26% refused to disclose who they would vote for.

Respondents are spread across the state's three senatorial districts.

Data collected showed that respondents were the heart ant of the various candidates vying for the position.

The data shows that 93% of the respondents knew Mr. Sanwo-Olu, 67% recognized Mr. Adediran from the PDP and 23% knew Gbadebo Mr. Rhodes-Vivour from the LP.
