LASU VC salutes media professionals and seeks more collaboration

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, commended the media men for their professionalism and balanced reporting on the activities of the university, as she also sought more collaboration.

In a statement made available to The PUNCH on Saturday, Olatunji-Bello made the remarks at the institution's fifth media and awards conference, held at the African Center of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education Lecture Hall, Main Campus, Ojo, Thursday, December 1, 2022.

Being her first media conference in charge as vice-chancellor, the physiology professor said her administration held members of the kingdom's fourth estate in high regard, as key players in the task of transforming the LASU into a favorite institution in the West. Africa.

She said, "In pursuing this vision, we have the unwavering support of our stakeholders whose contributions are crucial to realizing our desire for LASU. That is why I am indebted to our friends in the media for the vital role they have played over the past year in supporting the positive narrative of a new LASU. I am also grateful to the media for their objective, professional coverage and publicity of our activities.”

She further acknowledged that the talks had become one of many efforts during press engagements in the past and that the event provided a new opportunity to share her administration's vision, given the critical role played by the media in shaping public opinion.

She said, "My administration has maintained the cordial and mutually beneficial relationship we have established with you through the Center for Information, Press and Public Relations, over the years. Fashola said it will be instrumental in the university's journey to become the best in West Africa.
