Linking Peter Obi to Biafra, mischievous Igbo presidency – Abaribe

A former Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has blamed those who link the Labor Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi to the Igbo presidency and Biafran unrest.

Abaribe said such a move was a smear campaign to de-market Obi.

The Abia South senator wondered why the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, was not called a "Yoruba President" and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, from Fulani presidency.

Abaribe spoke at a virtual town hall organized by Ikengaonline.

He pointed out that the former governor of Anambra State should be seen as an individual pursuing his constitutionally guaranteed rights.

According to Abaribe, critics should stop linking Obi to his tribe and religion.

He said: "It is unfortunate that the emergence of Peter Obi, who is now a silver understudy, has been accompanied by complications. Tinubu has a presidential ticket, no one is saying it is a Yoruba ticket.< /p>

"Atiku has a ticket, no one says it's a Fulani ticket. But Peter Obi got a ticket and everyone is shouting, 'It's the Igbo Presidency.' unrest in Biafra.

"Did they try to associate Tinubu with Oduduwa's self-determination agitation? Or Atiku with the threat of Fulani herders or banditry in the North?"
