Little Mermaid: Halle Bailey amazed by children's reaction to Disney trailer

Litt Mermaid star Halle Bailey says she was amazed by people sharing videos online of young family members revealing their joy at seeing a Disney star who looked like them.

< p class="ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00">The first trailer for the remake of the live-action film, which hits the big screen next year, was released on Saturday.

A TikTok video compilation, tweeted by Brazilian entertainment site Tracklist, has been shared thousands of times.

Bailey, who performer of the lead role of Ariel, said, "It means the world to me."

< p class="ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00">She posted, "People sent me these reactions all weekend and I'm really impressed."

"She's brunette like me!"

The trailer shows Bailey's Ariel appearing rising from the depths of the sea to sing the chorus of Part of Your World, a song that first appeared in Disney's 1989 animated film of the same name.

Reacting to the scene, a young girl in the TikTok video is heard saying, "She's brunette like me!"

After watching another video, in which another girl asked if the mermaid was the real Ariel, Bailey noted, "I just sobbed watching this, thank you, she's so sweet."
